Halloween for Little Ones

Here are some things to think about when those cute little goblins and ghouls come visit your home on Halloween.  Let's make sure everyone has a fun Halloween experience by being aware of the struggles some kiddos are overcoming.

70 Days Till Christmas!

All of these toys are fairly easy and inexpensive to make.  Some are knock-offs of brand name toys, and some of these toy ideas are truly original.  One thing is certain – they’re all perfect if you like to give kids handmade gifts at Christmas, birthdays or any day!

 Homemade Lacing Toys:

These simple lacing frames are easy to make and great for helping little ones develop their fine motor skills.  - Babble Dabble Do

Homemade Felt Toys for Toddlers:

Here’s a soft and colourful way for toddlers to explore the alphabet: stuffed, hand-sewn felt letters by Buggy and Buddy.

DIY Activity boards for the playroom or classroom:

Homemade Coloured and Textured Blocks:

Homemade Toys for Car-Loving Kids:

Turn your old jeans into fabric roads!  Easy to make, and to stash in the diaper bag when you’re going out. – Lil Mop Top

Visit Picklebums to get these free, printable roads.  Your kids can build a whole city!

Buggy and Buddy painted up a set of simple wooden roads and ramps for her son.  Think of the hours of fun these would provide.

White Cane Day

Hello everyone,

I am SO excited to send out the information for White Cane Day 2017! We have an awesome family friendly event planned at the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum on Friday, October 13 from 4:00-7:00pm. 

This event is FREE for all students and their families but they must register using the Google link (very fast and easy).

There are activities for our parent infant program levels all the way to high school. There will be fun, hands-on STEM activities based on the white cane, food and more!! The entire museum will have White Cane Day activities throughout for a great way to celebrate our special holiday.

October Community Activities

The cooler weather has arrived!  This is my favorite time of year!  I hope you find some activities to enjoy with your family.

North Salt Lake - 
NSL Reads Night of Magic on October 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at City Hall.  Enjoy author Charlie Holmberg and magician Elias Caress and some family friendly activities.

Woods Cross - 
Pumpkins in the Park on October 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Hogan Park.  There will be a spook alley from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.  Fun for the whole family including a costume contest and a carved pumpkin contest.  Bring a can of food for the Bountiful Food Bank.

Bountiful - 
Youth Council Pumpkin Patch on October 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Foss Lewis Park (275 Lewis Park Drive).

Main Street Halloween on October 31 on Main Street.

Farmington - 
Jazz Bear will be at the Community Courts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 13 at 3:30 pm North West of the Gymnasium (294 South 650 West).

Ken Klinkers Pumpkin Patch will be on display at City Hall October 23 - October 27.  Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Fire Prevention Safety Fair Open House on October 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the fire department (82 North 100 East.  Events for all ages.

Kaysville -
Fire Prevention Open House on October 11 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the Kaysville Fire Department (175 South Main).  Events for the whole family.
